Sculpting muscles can be a difficult process with diet and exercise alone. That’s where EMSCULPT treatment comes in. With this innovative body sculpting treatment, you can tone and build muscle mass without the need for hours in the gym.
What is EMSCULPT?
EMSCULPT is a state-of-the-art, FDA-cleared technology that uses high-intensity electromagnetic energy to initiate supramaximal contractions, which are not possible with voluntary muscle action. These induced muscle contractions work to improve muscle tone, tighten muscles, burn fat, and strengthen the treatment area with no downtime.
EmSculpt body sculpting treatment causes 20,000 strong muscle contractions in about a half-hour, triggering powerful muscle contractions well beyond the point of the physiological norm. While the muscle tissue is experiencing these intense pulses, they release local chemicals that signal they are overworked. Next, the chemicals alert the fat cells in the target site to break down and release free fatty acids. The muscles then undergo a cellular change. The inner structure goes through a deep remodeling, and the muscles are strengthened and thickened in the treatment area.
When added to a healthy lifestyle, a firm body is much easier to maintain. This revolutionary treatment is set apart from others as it boasts a 19% loss of fat cells (over four treatments) while building muscle fibers by 16%.
The EMSCULPT muscle-building treatment can be used on the abdomen, buttocks, calves, arms, and thighs. It’s often a great alternative to a Brazilian butt lift.
Who is a Good Candidate For EMSCULPT?
Most people are good candidates for EMSCULPT, but some qualifications make some people better candidates than others. The qualifications for EMSCULPT include:
- Those not happy with their current body tone and seeking more muscle growth
- Have excess fat in the abdominal area and looking for fat reduction
- Looking to improve your abdominal tone and want a firmer abdomen area
- Looking to lift and tone buttocks
- Prefer a non-invasive cosmetic procedure
- Be at or near a healthy weight
- Want long-lasting results
- Have realistic expectations
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have metal implants, or have a history of seizures, EMSCULPT treatment may not be right for you.

The EMSCULPT Treatment Procedure
The 30-minute EMSCULPT procedure consists of three phases. The first two are similar, with the intensity of the second increasing from a few hundred pulses per minute to a few thousand. Impulse speeds are adjustable based on the patient’s tolerability and preference. In the abdominal area, the abdominal muscles can be seen moving beneath the skin, much like a child in a mother’s womb. Although there may be some discomfort, there is no more than what you feel during a hard session in the gym.
The third phase of the protocol is the most bearable with the pulses slowing down considerably, like a cool down after a workout. This part of the session will flush out lactic acid and other toxins associated with overworked muscles, ensuring they don’t build up. It also eliminates the discomfort and soreness felt after an energetic workout.
EMSCULPT Aftercare
After your EMSCULPT treatments, you’ll want to stay hydrated and not exercise the treated area for 24-48 hours. You will likely feel some muscle soreness, like if you had an intensive workout, and you’ll want to rest for a day or two. After that, you’ll want to stick to a healthy lifestyle with a regular exercise regimen and a healthy diet to maintain your results.
Compared to other non-surgical, non-invasive body contouring devices, EmSculpt treatment offers rapid muscle toning results with a visible improvement in one EMSCULPT session. Four sessions a few days apart are the recommended treatment plan, and while results may vary, you will likely see the results about four weeks after your final session.
