The nose can often be a problem area for many. Whether you feel it’s too prominent, are struggling with a bump or hump, or there is another issue, the nose can be a source of embarrassment or self-consciousness.
While a surgical rhinoplasty (traditional rhinoplasty) is the most common procedure, plenty of patients don’t want to have major surgery and opt for a liquid or non-surgical rhinoplasty. With much less downtime, this minimally invasive cosmetic procedure can be a great option for those looking to improve the contours and appearance of their nose at Pacific Plastic Surgery.
What is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Injectable fillers such as Restylane® can be used to provide non-permanent adjustments to nose contour and appearance. Dr. Wilson performs the non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure on patients who desire subtle to moderate changes in the bump on their nose or the relative position and appearance of the nasal tip. Dermal fillers in this area typically last from six months to two years, depending on personal factors and the fillers chosen. Some fillers are better suited for certain nasal corrections than others.
Who is a Good Candidate for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Patients who are interested in minor adjustments to the nose are good candidates for this nonsurgical rhinoplasty procedure. Typically, fillers can be used to mask small dorsal humps, sharpen nasal tips, and can help camouflage traumatic defects.
Patients with large dorsal humps and who are looking for either significant or permanent changes are not the ideal candidates for the non-surgical “nose job.”
Patients that have received a surgical Rhinoplasty are not a good candidate for a non-surgical Rhinoplasty.

The Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Procedure
Dr. Wilson will first see an interested candidate in a consultation. The desires of the patient, as well as the anatomy of the nose, are taken into account. The procedure is then usually done at the time of consultation. You will be provided with an appropriate topical numbing cream, which will be allowed to sit for approximately 15 minutes. The nose is then gently cleansed. Dr. Wilson will then inject the appropriate dermal filler into the tissues to contour the nose shape.
Often, the complete correction is broken up into two separate visits to allow for minor adjustments after the initial swelling has resolved. The second stage (touch-up/perfection stage) is done at two weeks.
Aftercare
After your non-surgical “nose job,” you may notice some discomfort, swelling, and slight bruising in the treatment area. But despite these side effects, you will be able to resume your normal activities immediately after. There is no downtime.
To ensure you’re healing as well as possible, we recommend using cold compresses to help with the swelling and calm any inflammation. You’ll also want to avoid blood-thinning medications to limit the amount of bruising you experience. Additionally, stay away from aspirin, alcohol, and vitamin E.
You’ll also want to avoid sun exposure and strenuous activities for at least 24 hours.
You’ll also need to avoid putting any pressure on your face for at least 10 hours. Even slight pressure could disrupt how the filler settles. You won’t want to wear glasses or makeup.
On top of that, you should stay in an upright position for at least three to four hours, and during the first night, you will need to sleep with your head elevated to minimize swelling.
The liquid rhinoplasty results show up much quicker than they do for rhinoplasty surgery. You’ll see some results immediately, with the final results appearing once the swelling goes down in a few days/
