As we age, our skin loses collagen and elastin, leading to sagging, loose skin, and making us look older than we feel. But it doesn’t have to be that way. With the help of Dr. Anthony Wilson, you can turn back the clock and get back the firmer, tighter skin you once had.
What is Skin Laxity?
Skin laxity is another term for sagging or loose skin. It typically occurs when we lose collagen and elastin in our skin, which typically occurs as we age, but can happen for a number of different reasons. When collagen and elastin start to break down, the skin loses its elasticity and begins to sag. Beyond loose skin, skin laxity can lead to lines, wrinkles, and deep folds (jowls) in the skin.
Skin laxity concerns can happen all over the body, including the arms, abdomen, thighs, face, and even around the eyes and neck.
What Causes Skin Laxity?
While the loss or breakdown of collagen, elastin, and other proteins in the skin is the main cause of skin laxity, what causes those components to break down? There are many different factors, including the following:
- Lifestyle choices
- Pollutants and environmental toxins
- Free radicals
- Sun exposure
- Sudden or drastic weight loss
- Pregnancy
- Genetics
- Age

Dermal Fillers
If you’re struggling with mild to moderate sagging skin on the face, dermal fillers are a great non-surgical treatment option. With just a few injections, you can restore volume to your face that was lost due to aging, genetics, sun damage, or other factors.
Microneedling
Microneedling is another minimally-invasive treatment that can help address skin laxity. Because a loss of collagen often leads to skin laxity and microneedling increases collagen production, it can boost your facial volume and give you the younger-looking appearance you desire.
Laser Treatments
Tired of dealing with mild skin laxity concerns? Laser treatment can turn back the clock, boost collagen production, and give you the firmer skin you desire. With just a few simple laser treatments, you can see outstanding results.
