What Is alloClae?
alloClae is a structural adipose allograft. In plain terms, it is human donor fat tissue that has been carefully processed and terminally sterilized so it can be safely injected to add cushioning, volume, and support where your body has lost it.
What makes alloClae different from a traditional filler is its structure. Rather than a gel, alloClae keeps the natural honeycomb architecture of fat tissue along with the surrounding extracellular matrix, the network of collagen and proteins that gives fat its shape and resilience. The processing removes nearly all free oil and reduces the material that would otherwise trigger an immune response.
alloClae does not contain living fat cells. It works as a natural scaffold that provides volume immediately and that your own tissue gradually grows into over the following months.
How alloClae Works
During your treatment, your provider injects alloClae into the layer just beneath the skin, in the same plane where your own fat naturally sits. The material fills the space and restores contour right away.
Over the weeks that follow, your body responds to the scaffold. Blood vessels and your own cells move into the matrix, and the treated area softens and settles into place. alloClae or Fat Transfer: What Is the Difference?
Both add volume using fat tissue, but they are not the same procedure and they do not suit the same patient.
Fat transfer uses your own fat. Dr. Wilson performs liposuction to harvest it, processes it, and re-injects it. Because the cells are living and yours, a portion of the graft establishes a permanent blood supply and stays. The tradeoff is that it is a surgical procedure requiring anesthesia, a donor site, and a longer recovery, and not all of the transferred fat survives.
alloClae uses processed donor tissue. There is no liposuction, no donor site, and no surgery. Treatment takes place in the office and most patients are back to normal activity within a few days. Because alloClae works as a scaffold rather than living tissue, it is best suited to mild and moderate volume restoration rather than large-scale augmentation.
If you are looking for a significant increase in size, fat transfer or implants remain the better route. If you want to refine a contour, soften a dent, or add moderate fullness without downtime, alloClae is often the better fit. Who Is a Good Candidate for alloClae?
You may be a good candidate if you:

What to Expect During Your alloClae Treatment
Your treatment takes place in our Portsmouth office. Your provider marks the treatment areas while you are standing, so the contour is planned the way you will actually see it. The area is numbed with local anesthetic, and alloClae is injected through small entry points using a cannula.
Most treatments take under an hour depending on the number of areas being addressed. There are no incisions to close and no drains. You go home the same day.
Recovery and Aftercare
Most patients take two to five days of light downtime. You can expect some swelling, tenderness, and bruising in the treated area, all of which fade over the first week or two.
You will be given specific aftercare instructions, which typically include avoiding direct pressure on the treated area, holding off on strenuous exercise for a short period, and staying well hydrated. Following these instructions closely gives the tissue the best environment to integrate.
As with any injectable treatment, there are risks. These can include swelling, bruising, discomfort, infection, hematoma, cyst formation, changes in skin color, and allergic reaction. Our team will discuss these with you in detail before you decide to move forward.
