What is the PicoWay® Laser?

PicoWay® Laser Treatment For Tattoo Removal
PicoWay can be used to remove all forms of tattoos, including permanent makeup and microblading. It features ultra-short laser pulses to break the ink into particles that your body can naturally eliminate on its own. PicoWay can even be used on the notoriously difficult-to-remove blues and greens. With precision on another level, this laser is ideal for brows and delicate areas around the face, as it can successfully treat the area without causing further damage.
Different ink brings different challenges
The type of ink used in cosmetic tattoos (such as eyebrow tattoos or microblading) is different from traditional tattoos, and this can bring its own complications. When attempting to lighten cosmetic tattoo ink, the color may change. It might start as black, but after a laser treatment, it may turn brown or orange. This color change could persist throughout the removal process.
It doesn’t mean the tattoo cannot be removed, it simply means you might have oddly colored eyebrows for a while. Cue some good makeup. However, our specialists will spend a good amount of time with you, explaining how many treatments you may need for complete removal.
Most patients require anywhere between 3 to 7 sessions, and the specific treatment series that is necessary for full removal will depend on ink color and depth, and skin type. During a consultation, your specific needs will be discussed with our expert staff. Each session will be spaced several weeks apart to give the skin time to heal and process the pigment out of the body.

Before Your Treatment
Before any treatment at AW Plastic Surgery, your provider will assess your skin and ask questions about your goals. You will receive a personalized treatment plan to achieve your ideal results and pre- and post-treatment care instructions to maintain them for as long as possible. A topical numbing cream may be applied to maximize comfort, but PicoWay is generally not considered a painful treatment option.
During Your Treatment
The PicoWay treatment is initiated when the handpiece is applied to the target area, delivering ultra-fast pulses of energy. Many patients tend to describe treatment as a mild snapping or prickling, but otherwise do not experience discomfort during their sessions. Each session will last between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on the treatment area and concern.
Aftercare
Following your PicoWay treatment, you may experience some mild redness or swelling or a sunburn-like sensation. This can last anywhere between a few hours to a few days. Be sure to avoid sun exposure and follow the aftercare instructions provided to you. You can usually return to normal activities immediately after treatment, unless specified by your provider.
