Get Wedding-Ready with These 5 Skin Prep Tips
Wedding season is officially here! Summer is the most popular time for tying the knot, and with a major boom in weddings anticipated in 2022, this season will be one for the books! If you’re planning your nuptials this year, then you must already be thinking about your beauty regimen. After all, every bride and groom want to look and feel their best on their big day.
At AW Plastic Surgery, we love to celebrate this all-important day with our patients and help them achieve their desired wedding-day look. This starts with clear and fresh-looking skin, and we have all the tools and expertise to give you that radiant complexion. From HydraFacials to laser treatments, here are the many ways we can help you achieve a glow in time for your big day. Read on for our five skin prep tips that’ll have you glowing and gorgeous on your wedding day.
1. HydraFacial
Out with the old and in with the new. That’s what a HydraFacial will do for you! If you’ve never had one of these extraordinary all-in-one facial treatments, the months, weeks and even days before your wedding is a perfect time. HydraFacials are all the rage because of their quick and effective ability to exfoliate, refresh, and hydrate all skin types.
The hydra-dermabrasion procedure works to cleanse and extract impurities while infusing rejuvenating serums into your pores. You can customize your treatment to meet your specific needs by selecting different add-ons that’ll help nourish your skin. Schedule your final HydraFacial three to four days prior to the big day to ensure your skin is fresh and glowing in your wedding photos.
2. Dermaplaning
Baby-soft skin that feels soft to the touch is what dermaplaning is all about. Your experienced skincare technician will lightly graze the surface of your skin with a surgical instrument to slough off dead skin cells and fine hairs or “peach fuzz.” This leaves an extremely soft and smooth surface and evens out your skin texture.
By exfoliating your skin via dermaplaning, you’ll achieve a more flawless finish with your makeup. It also helps your premium skincare serums sink in easily so they can really get to work. Just think of how radiant your skin will look in photos!
3. Laser Treatments
Being front and center on your wedding day will be a piece of cake with clear, glowing skin. A great regimen for brides is to resurface and refine their skin with a series of laser facials. Lasers work to remove old, dead skin cells and regenerate the surface layer of skin. If you’re newly engaged and just starting your pre-wedding skincare regimen, you’ve got options.
If you’re concerned about deep acne scarring, rosacea, or hyperpigmentation, you might be a candidate for a deeper, more ablative (removing the top layer of skin) laser treatment like a phenol peel. If your skin has minor damage, it can be treated with a series of HALO lasers which combine ablative and non-ablative lasers.
If you are weeks to days away from your wedding date, get your skin in picture-perfect shape with our newest laser, the MOXI™ Laser by Sciton. The MOXI laser is non-ablative, so you can enjoy skin rejuvenation with minimal downtime. It’s a great final treatment before the big day to give you fresh, clear and glowing skin. If you have more advanced signs of aging, talk to your laser technician about the right combination of treatments.
4. Botox
Expression lines that don’t belong in a timeless photo can be erased with some simple Botox or Dysport injections. These popular anti-wrinkle powerhouses stop wrinkles in their tracks! They work to temporarily paralyze the underlying muscle so it won’t clench and form wrinkles.
If you’ve never had Botox or Dysport before, plan to have it done about a month before your wedding. It can take up to two weeks for the neurotoxins to take effect, and you don’t want to leave anything to chance. You’ll likely have a final shower or party before the big day so this will give you the opportunity to enjoy a wrinkle-free forehead well in advance of the big day!
5. Fillers
Smooth out deeper creases and hollows with long-lasting dermal fillers. Popular for their ability to make lips full and plump, cheeks more lifted and defined, and nasolabial folds virtually disappear, filler has become a regular treatment for brides-to-be, grooms, and their wedding parties.
Dermal fillers are composed of water-attracting hyaluronic acid that restores volume and lift to drooping or lackluster areas. We suggest getting filler at least three months before your wedding day to get used to the look, but if you’re short on time, the effect is immediate. Be prepared for minor bruising, however, and schedule your appointment at least two weeks in advance. Your experienced injector at AW Plastic Surgery will guide you on the right filler for your needs.
